In April 2018, Lillie and I, representing Operation Healthy Africa (OHA), joined MERCY SAID NO Organization in its annual Nigerian Medical Mission (Mission) in Lagos and Osun State. The combined group consisted of medical doctors, pharmacists, nurses, para medical personnel and other volunteers from Maryland, Georgia, California, Texas, New York, Washington DC and Nigeria.

The Mission started on a Saturday in an area of Lagos Island called Isale Eko, with the collaboration of RCCG Grace Arena Parish, a church which administers to the area. It was a one-day mission where our medical group attended to hundreds of patients with various ailments including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, hernia, malaria and other infections. The patients were very pleased with the group's dispensation of free medical treatment and medication. Most of the patients do not otherwise have access to medical care.

Next, our medical group traveled to Osun state where we visited several cities and villages, including Ile-Ife, Ede, Ifetedo, lie lgbo, Ode Omu, Ejigbo and Iwo. We dispensed similar medical care and medication as in the lsale Eko mission.

Overall, the 2018 Medical Mission was a fulfilling, beneficial and rewarding experience to all participants.
